Scientific & Analytical Services
From nanoscale structural characterization to high-throughput bioassays, our analytical scientists work alongside dedicated instrument specialists to deliver rigorous, reproducible results.
What we do
The Scientific & Analytical Services team operates across four capability areas, each supported by one or more of Veyra's five core facilities. We accept samples from external clients and produce certified analytical reports, or we embed our specialists within a client project team for longer engagements.
All analytical work is performed under documented standard operating procedures with full traceability from sample intake to final report. Data are stored for 36 months and available for re-analysis or audit. Methodology sections in our reports include instrument settings, calibration records, reference standards used, and any deviations from protocol.
Turnaround time depends on sample type, queue status, and analytical method. We provide an estimated completion date at quotation stage and give clients access to a project tracking portal for real-time status updates.
Capability areas
Materials characterization
Structural and compositional analysis of solid materials, thin films, powders, and nanostructured specimens. We combine X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and electron microscopy to build a complete picture of material phase, grain size, elemental distribution, and surface chemistry. Our Functional Materials Group and Spectroscopy & Analytical Core are the primary supporting resources.
- X-ray diffraction (XRD) — phase identification, crystallite size, Rietveld refinement
- XPS surface analysis — elemental and chemical state mapping
- SEM/TEM with EDS — morphology and elemental mapping
- Particle size distribution and zeta potential
- Thermal analysis: TGA, DSC, dynamic mechanical analysis
- BET surface area and porosimetry
Bioanalytics
Quantitative analysis of biological samples, including protein assays, metabolomics, genomics screening, and cell-based functional assays. The Veyra Biofoundry's automated liquid-handling platform supports high-throughput workflows; manual protocols are available for lower-volume or more complex specimens. Results are reported with full quality control data, including positive and negative controls.
- Protein quantification and characterization (BCA, Bradford, SEC-MALS)
- Metabolite profiling by LC-MS
- High-throughput screening (HTS) using robotic liquid handlers
- Cell viability and cytotoxicity assays (96- and 384-well)
- ELISA and multiplex immunoassay
- Genomic DNA/RNA extraction and QC
Imaging & microscopy
Sub-nanometre to millimetre-scale imaging for materials, biological, and device specimens. Our Advanced Microscopy Centre houses a cryo-transmission electron microscope, a spinning-disc confocal system, and an atomic force microscope. Specialist staff perform sample preparation, image acquisition, and quantitative image analysis. 3D reconstruction from cryo-EM tilt series is available for macromolecular complexes.
- Cryo-TEM: single-particle analysis, tilt-series tomography
- Confocal fluorescence: fixed and live-cell imaging, FRAP, co-localisation
- AFM: topography, phase, force spectroscopy, nanoindentation
- Correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM)
- Automated image segmentation and quantification
Computational modeling-as-a-service
Scientific simulation and data analysis on the Meridian HPC cluster, provided as a managed service. Clients supply experimental data, system definitions, or problem specifications; our computational scientists handle code development, job execution, post-processing, and interpretation. Typical applications include molecular dynamics, density functional theory, finite-element analysis, and coarse-grained polymer simulations.
- Molecular dynamics (GROMACS, LAMMPS, NAMD)
- Density functional theory (VASP, Quantum ESPRESSO)
- Finite-element structural and thermal analysis (custom solvers)
- Computational fluid dynamics for reactor and process design
- Coarse-grained and mesoscale polymer models
- ML-accelerated force fields using Veyra Atlas outputs

Pricing model
All scientific and analytical services are priced on a quote basis, denominated in Veyra credits (cr). One credit corresponds to a defined billing unit agreed in the services framework; invoicing is in the client's preferred currency at the prevailing exchange rate.
Quotes are typically prepared within two business days of receiving a complete sample description and project brief. For straightforward single-technique analyses, indicative pricing is available from the services desk before a formal quote. Equipment-only bookings (without specialist support) are billed at the published hourly rates on the equipment rental page.
Discounts apply for internal users (Veyra researchers and graduate students), and frame agreements for repeat external clients can be negotiated on a 12-month basis. Academic users from accredited institutions receive a 15% standard reduction off external list rates.
